Show #1: Swinging Harmonies of the Big Band Era

The 1930s and 1940s hit the sweet spot when swing music, jazz music, and pop music were all one and the same. It was a time when every radio blared out music that was danceable yet sophisticated.

The Vintage Vocal Quartet's "Swinging Harmonies" show dials in the sound of Glenn Miller’s Modernaires, the Nat King Cole Trio, the Andrews Sisters, and Tommy Dorsey’s Pied Pipers, as well as Bing Crosby, Frank Sinatra, Ella Fitzgerald, and Jo Stafford.

These four vocalists double on piano, bass, guitar and trumpet, so you’ll hear the full, rich style of the big band era in a tight little package.

Songs include Stardust (Pied Pipers with Frank Sinatra), Undecided (Delta Rhythm Boys), Don't Fence Me In (Andrews Sisters with Bing Crosby), Walking My Baby Back Home (Nat King Cole), Their Hearts Were Full of Spring (Four Freshmen) and Don't Sit Under the Apple Tree (Glenn Miller's Modernaires)
