David Thorne Scott and Christine Fawson Old School Jazz Nite

Ryles Jazz Club, 212 Hamshire Street, Cambridge, MA

My first love, as you all know, is singing jazz, and tomorrow I will be performing at Ryles Jazz Club with some of my favorite musicians. Christine Fawson will be singing and playing trumpet, Mark Shilansky will play piano, Greg Holt will be on acoustic bass, and Steve Langone will be manning the drumkit.

This will be a show comprised largely of standards. Christine and I feel like old souls when we get together and talk about the great songs by Gershwin, Porter, Kern and the other masters of 20th-century music. We get a little misty-eyed when we think of the musicians who created this style before we were born. So we decided to devote an evening to them. No fusion, no pop crossover, no too-hip-for-the-room arrangements, just quality swingtime. (Okay, maybe we'll throw in a bossa or two to mix things up a little.) This IS your grandfathers jazz show.

Please come join us, won't you? And be kind to the bartenders-- they can make an old-fashioned, you know.
